After the vote in the Assembly the day before, Talat Xhaferi has today assumed the office of Prime Minister in North Macedonia. In a press conference with his predecessor, Kovacevski, Xhaferi said that the Constitution and laws will be the basis of every decision that will be made in the government.
" With the promise that at least once a month we will see each other regularly. As soon as we finished the face-to-face meeting with Kovacevski, we agreed on the primary issue that will be the focus of the government.
I express my satisfaction for the task I undertook. Since we are in a government coalition, of course the government that will lead is forced to implement the policies in this program. The primary task is the organization of regular parliamentary and presidential elections.
We will implement all the legal prerequisites for the implementation of the clear will of the citizens, for free and fair elections. The alliance with the USA, the EU and NATO remains a priority of the RMV government, the wobble can be exploited by third powers. Maintaining this alliance has no other alternative. Integration as a guide in the government platform, are high on the government's agenda.
Regardless of how long this will last for the government, there will be no lack of institutional functioning in the service of citizens. We may be different in this government, but we are there thanks to your legitimacy, " he said.
The technical government led by Talat Xhaferi, with a mandate of 100 days, was voted yesterday in the Assembly of North Macedonia with 65 votes in favor, 3 against and no abstentions. Xhaferi will lead the technical government until the extraordinary elections on May 8.
