Before the sun rose today, dozens of Minnesotans took to the streets again in Minneapolis to protest the killing of a woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent. Holding makeshift signs, the protesters gathered near the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building, a federal facility that quickly became the epicenter of the clash with authorities.
According to reports from the ground, federal agents intervened several times to push back the crowd, while tensions escalated when law enforcement officers attempted to arrest a person inside the protest. CNN correspondent Ryan Young reported that officers forced their way into the crowd and began firing pepper spray to disperse them. “It’s unclear why they decided to go after this person. People were standing still and suddenly they jumped on him,” Young said, adding that the person was handcuffed on the spot.

The situation further deteriorated when officers used a substance similar to tear gas to move protesters across the street. A cloud of smoke covered the area, while protesters were seen coughing and gasping for breath. Border Patrol agents also arrived at the scene and lined up in front of the crowd. While some officers attempted to defuse the situation, others were heard provoking protesters and using physical force. Protesters responded with loud chants, calling the officers “murderers” and “Nazis,” as authorities cleared every entrance to the federal facility. The situation in Minneapolis remains tense and signals another dark chapter in the clashes between communities and federal immigration policies.
