A 20-year-old man has been shot dead after entering the security perimeter of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach.
According to an official statement from the U.S. Secret Service, the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time. Secret Service agents and a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office confronted a man in his 20s who was seen near the north gate of the complex with what appeared to be a shotgun and a gasoline can.
During the confrontation, shots were fired. Authorities confirmed that the young man died at the scene. The Secret Service has not released the person's identity.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said at a news conference that security found a man inside the residence's perimeter carrying a gas can and a rifle. They then asked the young man to drop them, but the call was refused.
Bradshaw further added that the young man threw the gasoline can and raised the gun to shoot, at which point, agents fired at him to neutralize the threat and killed him. The sheriff also said that the people involved in the shooting were wearing body cameras at the time, which could help in fully unraveling the incident.
"At 1:30 a.m. this morning, security forces detected an individual entering the inner perimeter of Mar-a-Lago. A deputy and two Secret Service agents on a detail went to the area to investigate. They were confronted by a white male carrying a gas canister and a rifle. He was ordered to drop both devices, at which time he lowered the gas canister and raised the rifle to a firing position. At that point, the deputy and two Secret Service agents fired their weapons and neutralized the threat. He died at the scene ," Bradshaw said.

According to sources, none of the people under the agency's protection were at the residence at the time of the incident. According to the public agenda, President Donald Trump is staying at the White House this weekend.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Secret Service are expected to hold a press conference to provide additional information about the circumstances of the incident. Authorities have not yet provided further details on the motive or the full course of the incident.
FBI spokesman Brett Skiles said the area where the shooting occurred was under Secret Service protection and that the FBI was gathering evidence. He asked anyone who lives nearby to check their outdoor security cameras for anything unusual and to contact the West Palm Beach Sheriff's Office if they notice anything unusual.
The suspect was in his 20s and from North Carolina, according to investigators. He was reported missing several days ago by his family. Investigators believe he left North Carolina and headed south, picking up a rifle along the way, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
The gun case was found in his vehicle, Guglielmi said. The man drove through the north gate of Mar-a-Lago as another vehicle was exiting, and was confronted by Secret Service agents and shot to death. Investigators are now working to compile a psychological profile and determine a motive.
Recall that in July 2024, Trump was injured in an assassination attempt while speaking at a rally for supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania, during the presidential election campaign. A bullet grazed his ear and several spectators were killed.
Then, on September 15 of that year, a man with a rifle was caught waiting near Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach while the president was playing a round. He appeared to be pointing the gun through a perimeter fence. He was sentenced to life in prison earlier this month./ Pamphlet
