The 59 young people who lost their lives as a result of the flames that engulfed the 'Pulse' nightclub in North Macedonia will be escorted to their final resting place today.
The funeral ceremony in Kocani will be held at 12:00, led by the head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Stefan.
Priests from Kocani, their parents and relatives will be at the entrance to the cemetery. Meanwhile, other citizens are expected to be present at the funeral ceremony.
"After the funeral ceremony, but also in the following days, all grieving citizens will gradually, one by one, be able to go to the eternal resting places of the victims, pray for their souls, lay flowers and light candles," the director of the Crisis Management Center, Stojançe Angelov, called this morning.
Today, funeral ceremonies will also be held in Shtip, Obleshevo and Skopje.
The terrible tragedy occurred in the early hours of March 16. There were about 500 young people in the disco, attending a performance by the Macedonian band DNA, a famous local group, who also lost their lives.
Meanwhile, the North Macedonian Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that 64 patients are being treated in public health institutions in the country and are in relatively stable condition, while 13 others are being treated in private hospitals and 101 patients are being treated abroad.
Since Monday afternoon, protests have been taking place in the city by citizens outraged by the incident. Protesters marched in front of the prosecutor's office and the city court, while dozens of them, in anger, stopped in front of one of the premises owned by the same person who owned the nightclub where the tragedy occurred. They destroyed most of the premises and a vehicle allegedly belonging to the same person.
