On Monday evening, Miroslav Lajçak, the emissary of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue together with the envoy of the United States of America, Gabriel Escobar, met Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Pristina.
After the 2-hour meeting with Escobar and Lajçak, Kurti expressed his commitment to resolve the situation in the north.
He stated that in order to continue the free and fair elections, the attacks by criminal groups against the special forces must be ended.
"In the meeting with Escobar and Lajcak, I expressed my unreserved commitment to de-escalation. The essential steps forward are an immediate end to attacks on security forces by violent extremists and criminal groups and the role of ensuring free and fair campaigning and elections," Kurti wrote in a reaction on Twitter.

It is learned that Lajçak and Escobar have submitted three requests for Kurti.
Calming the situation in the north of Kosovo, holding new elections and returning to dialogue, were their demands for the Prime Minister of Kosovo.
"We presented a proposal on behalf of the international community that contains three elements. We had long, honest and difficult talks", said Lajcaku, after the tripartite meeting on the evening of June 5.
He said that it is in everyone's interest that there are "legitimate" mayors of municipalities in the north of Kosovo who represent the citizens.
Meanwhile, Escobar said that he came to this meeting as a friend of Kosovo and said that he hopes that their requests will be heard.
“Nuk kam parë kurrë kaq shumë unitet brenda komunitetit transatlatnik. SHBA-ja, BE-ja, NATO-ja dhe pothuajse çdo mik i Kosovës e ka bërë të njëjtin propozim. Kështu që shpresoj të dëgjohemi”, tha Escobar.
Të dërguarit e SHBA-së dhe BE-së do të zhvillojnë takime me krerë të lartë shtetërorë në Prishtinë dhe Beograd edhe më 6 qershor.
Që nga 26 maji në tri komuna në veri të Kosovës ka pasur protesta nga serbët lokalë.
Në Leposaviç, Zubin-Potok e Zveçan është kundërshtuar hyrja e kryetarëve të rinj të komunave në objektet komunale. Pati protesta të dhunshme e pësuan dhjetëra policë e ushtarë të KFOR-it.
Serbët patën bojkotuar zgjedhjet e fund të prillit. Në ato zgjedhje dolën më pak se 3 për qind e qytetarëve me të drejtë vote. Për herë të parë, katër komuna në veri udhëhiqen nga shqiptarët.
