Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has responded to US President Donald Trump's statements, stressing that his country will never surrender.
His reaction comes after Trump declared that the United States will not negotiate with Tehran without an "unconditional surrender."
In a speech broadcast on Iranian state television, Pezeshkian said that pressure on Iran will not change the country's position.
"They will take their dreams of our unconditional surrender with them to the grave ," he said.
The Iranian president's statement comes at a time of high tensions in the region, as the Iranian military continues to exchange attacks with Israel and retaliatory strikes against several Gulf countries.
Meanwhile, the political situation in Iran remains uncertain following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei a week ago. Until a successor is named, power in the country is being exercised by a three-person interim council.
This council includes President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, and senior cleric Alireza Arafi.
