Donald Trump

United States President Donald Trump has invited dozens of world leaders to join the upcoming Gaza Peace Council as part of his initiative to promote a multilateral peace plan for the Palestinian enclave. Among the countries invited are Greece and Cyprus.

According to Bloomberg, the official list of invitees, based on information from sources familiar with the matter, includes 49 countries, as well as the European Commission. As explained, not all countries have yet confirmed receiving the invitation, while the list is not considered final.

The goal is for the plan to be signed in Davos.

According to the same sources, Donald Trump wants the signing ceremony of the 20-page peace plan for Gaza to take place on Thursday in Davos, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum. However, this plan has caused reactions, as some of the invited countries are calling for a reformulation of the main terms of the agreement before any signing.

Countries that have been invited

According to Bloomberg, the countries that have received an invitation to participate in the Gaza Peace Council are: Albania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

At the same time, it was announced that China has also received an invitation from the US government to participate in the Washington-promoted Peace Council for the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, France has no intention of accepting the invitation from US President Donald Trump, sources close to President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday.

France "does not intend, at this stage, to give a favorable response" to the American invitation, a source added.

Even Israel has spoken out against it.

Putin, Erdogan and Milley in invitations

Trump himself confirmed that he had invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the Peace Council, which is promoting the US plan for Gaza. At the same time, it was announced that invitations had been sent to both Argentine President Javier Milley and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Composition and role of the Council

Last week, the White House officially announced the composition of the Peace Council, which will be responsible for implementing the 20 points of the Trump plan and coordinating the reconstruction of Gaza after the war.

The council will be chaired by Donald Trump himself and includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, as well as US investors Robert Gabriel and Mark Rowan. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also participates.

According to Bloomberg, the US presidential administration is reportedly seeking at least $1 billion in exchange from countries wishing to take a permanent seat on the Peace Council, which would not be limited exclusively to Gaza but would have a broader role in overseeing post-war and geopolitical developments in the region.
