A massive military parade planned for June 14, 2025, will bring a spectacular display of nearly 7,000 soldiers, 370 vehicles and 70 aircraft to the U.S. capital, according to documents obtained by CNN. The event, which coincides with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army and President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, is expected to be one of the largest military displays in Washington's history.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. from the Pentagon's north parking lot, cross the Arlington Memorial Bridge, and proceed along Constitution Avenue, ending at 15th Street. President Trump is expected to watch the event from a presidential stand near the White House Ellipse, where he will deliver a speech and participate in a registration event.
According to sources, the parade will feature vehicles and uniforms from every war in American history, including historic and modern machinery, while the Army Golden Knights will perform a parachute jump over the Ellipse. About 70 aircraft, including helicopters and fighter jets, will fly over Washington.
The cost of the grand event is estimated to be between $25 million and $45 million, according to Army spokespeople, raising concerns among some officials and critics about the potential damage to city streets from heavy vehicles, such as tanks. Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser has expressed reservations, saying the tanks “would not be good” for the streets and has asked for additional funds for repairs if they are used.
For President Trump, the parade marks a culminating moment to showcase American military might, a dream of his since his first presidential term, inspired by France's Bastille Day parade in 2017. The event is also a prelude to the celebrations of America 250, a year-long initiative for the 250th anniversary of US Independence in 2026, which Trump has pledged to make a reality.
The celebration will also include a day-long festival on the National Mall with military demonstrations, musical performances by popular country music artists, a fitness competition and a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. The Army has planned for 5,000 soldiers to stay at the General Services Administration and Department of Agriculture buildings for several days before and after the parade.
