Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has stated that drafting a memorandum with Ukraine regarding a future peace treaty will take a long time.
Speaking about what was discussed between Trump and Putin, Medvedev said that an appropriate legal form and the right people need to sign this agreement.
"As for the memorandum, this idea has been formulated, but there is still a lot of work to be done before the memorandum is filled with content that will be appropriate for the problem. To find a suitable or appropriate legal form and to find those who are able to sign this kind of memorandum for Ukraine, if possible. And this is not an easy task. The most difficult task now is to fill this memorandum with the necessary content. Content that will lay a solid foundation for the future, content that will help restore lasting peace," he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier, after telephone talks with US leader Donald Trump, that Russia is ready to work with Ukraine to draft a memorandum on a future peace treaty, which could cover issues related to the ceasefire and principles of conflict resolution.
