An Air India flight from Chicago to Delhi turned into a 10-hour journey with no destination after the plane was forced to turn back due to an unusual problem: 11 of its 12 toilets failed to function.
The incident occurred on March 5, when flight AI 126 was passing over Greenland. With only one toilet remaining functional in business class and about 300 passengers on board, the crew made the decision to return to Chicago's O'Hare Airport, according to foreign media reports.
The problem was discovered about five hours after the flight took off, making it impossible to continue the journey to India. In a statement, Air India described the incident as a technical issue, explaining that passengers and crew landed normally in Chicago and were accommodated in hotels to minimize inconvenience.
