The non-governmental organization Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused Israel of using white phosphorus in its war in Gaza. The Israeli army has reacted to these accusations, which has rejected all claims.
" The current allegations leveled against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) regarding the use of white phosphorus in Gaza are false ," a spokesman said in a statement.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad stated that Israel is waging an all-out war against Hamas militants to bring lasting change and protect the future of the Jewish state as a prosperous democracy, as he emphasized that the Palestinian armed group is part of of an "axis of evil" that includes Iran.
" This is a fight for the existence of Israel as a prosperous country, a democratic state, the homeland of the Jewish people, " Gallant said at the press conference he gave in Tel Aviv with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin, who visited Israel.
Asked by a reporter if Tehran had given approval for the Hamas attack last Saturday, Gallad said "It doesn't matter because the idea is Iranian."
