A wave of speculation has swept social media following claims that the alleged girlfriend of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho", informed authorities of his whereabouts before the operation in which he lost his life.
Viral posts on X and other social media platforms named Maria Julissa, a Mexican influencer and model known for her content on Instagram and the OnlyFans platform. According to claims circulating online, she was seen in the company of “El Mencho” just hours before the police intervention.
Photos circulating online showed a woman standing next to a man who resembled the leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) cartel, while some posts suggested that she had tipped off authorities to his whereabouts. However, no Mexican or US authorities have confirmed the identity of the alleged informant, referring only to an “anonymous romantic partner.”
Maria Julissa reacted publicly by categorically denying any connection to the incident. In an Instagram post, she called the claims completely untrue and asked her followers to report pages that, according to her, are spreading fabricated information.
She also hinted that some of the photos and materials circulating may have been digitally manipulated or created with the help of artificial intelligence, to falsely link her to the issue.
Until an official reaction from the authorities, the claims remain at the level of unconfirmed speculation that has taken on large proportions on social networks.
