Four other employees of military registration offices have been handcuffed by the Ukrainian authorities. These arrests come on the heels of several others in Ukraine's attempt to purge people involved in corruption or espionage.
"The arrested are employees of military registration offices and heads of military medical commissions who helped several others to avoid conscription and escape abroad," the announcement said.
According to the local authorities, the arrested took money from the recruits for medical service by lying about their diagnoses.
The cost of the services provided was up to 10,000 dollars per person, the statement said, adding that the amount depended on the time frame for resolving the issues and the financial capabilities of the clients.
The head of the military registration office and the head of one of the capital's military medical commissions were arrested for selling fake medical certificates for the presence of serious diagnoses.
