European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said supporting Kiev and increasing European defense readiness are top priorities for the so-called "Coalition of the Willing," a group of countries seeking to exert more pressure on Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
Von der Leyen said she had briefed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other leaders of the "Coalition of the Willing" on the priorities of the European plan.
Foreign media write that Von der Leyen said that the proposal to use frozen Russian assets through a reparations loan for Ukraine was "complex" but would increase the cost of the war for Moscow.
"The longer Putin continues his war, shedding blood, taking lives and destroying Ukrainian infrastructure, the higher the cost to Russia will be ," said the Commission President.
She added that ties within Europe were stronger than ever and that member states would continue to stand together, supporting Ukraine and defending Europe.
