Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned Israel that conducting a ground operation in the Gaza Strip will result in an "absolutely unacceptable" number of civilian casualties.
The head of the Kremlin also said that the bloodshed in the Middle East must stop.
Putin said that Israel had been subjected to an "unprecedented attack of cruelty" and that it had the right to defend itself.
"Most importantly, civilian casualties will be absolutely unacceptable. Currently, the main objective is to stop the bleeding. Russia is ready to coordinate with all partners constructively", said Vladimir Putin, present at the summit in Kyrgyzstan.
The Israeli military on Friday called on the 1.1 million Palestinians living in Gaza City to leave for areas of the southern Gaza Strip in the next 24 hours.
The Kremlin leader believes that the way to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is to create an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Russia has diplomatic relations with Israel, the Palestinians, groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, Iran, and major Arab powers.
Russia has strengthened its relationship with Israel since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. In turn, the government in Tel Aviv has taken a cautious stance regarding Moscow's criticism of the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
