The visit of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to Tetovo has made Skopje and Belgrade nervous, as President Aleksandër Vucic and his counterpart Stevo Pendarovski described it as a "scandal".
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has made an informal visit to Tetovo, where he met only the representatives of the two opposition parties.
The government of North Macedonia has condemned the fact that a demonstration was organized within their territory in which the Macedonian anthem was not sung and the Macedonian national flag was not displayed.
The President of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, reacted strongly to this.
Pendarovski has requested that the law deal with the organizers, as they spread chauvinist ideas, which incite national hatred and provocation by commenting on the use of "Autochtonus" flags during these gatherings.
"The emphasis on provocative nationalist iconography that promotes chauvinistic ideas of large states represents the incitement of ethnic hatred and intolerance, which undoubtedly attacks the basic principles and values of the Framework Agreement, as well as the concept of Macedonia as a multi-ethnic state," the president's reaction reads . of the State, Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
He called for the organizers of the gatherings in Tetovo and Çair to be legally sanctioned.
"Organizers of public gatherings in Tetovo and Çair should be legally sanctioned for violating the legal provisions for the use of the national flag and anthem and the flags and symbols of the communities, completely ignoring the symbols of the state. I call on the competent bodies to carry out the aforementioned procedures as soon as possible", underlined Pendarovski in response.
Furthermore, Pendarovski also reacted by renaming a street in Çair after Adem Demaç.
"The way of realizing the idea of renaming the road in the municipality of Çair, according to Pendarovski's reaction, is contrary to the principle of democratic debate and respect for the historical heritage of all communities in the state.
In this sense, I expect the competent inspection services to check whether the principle of the double majority has been respected when making the decision, where the votes of the communities that are not the majority in that municipality should also be included", says the reaction of the President of the State Stevo Pendarovski.
Meanwhile, in connection with the visit of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to Tetovo, the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vučić, reacted strongly. He called the visit a scandal since, according to Vucic, Kurti promoted the idea of "Greater Albania".
"What happened in North Macedonia was a scandal of scandals. There, the idea of 'Greater Albania' was promoted, its symbols were emphasized, and Kurti was presented as prime minister of all Albanians and prime minister of Tetova, among other things," said Vučič .
