Before assuming the presidency, Donald Trump has selected family members, golf buddies and Palm Beach socialites as US ambassadors around the world.
These elections are drawing harsh reactions from his enemies, the most sensational to date being the election of former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle as ambassador to Greece.
Trump announced her nomination hours after the DailyMail reported that her planned engagement to his son Don Jr. had been called off.
Democrats have decried Trump's pick of Guilfoyle, among other glamourous ambassadors, labeling him a "clown."
Junior Senator Adam Schiff, a long-time Trump foe who could be in line for 'revenge' as a former Trump impeachment manager - is among those considering the nomination.
He is pledging to review the record of MAGA ally Guilfoyle as part of the Senate's 'advise and consent role'.
Former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott said the election is a personal Trump operation.
"I talked to him about it, actually, and he said the president is doing those things himself," the Mississippi Republican said.
“Well, it seems that, you know, her relationship with Don Jr. broke down and maybe she was looking for an opportunity. But here's the thing about Trump: he's moving. He's appointing — doing a lot of these things," he said, talking about some elections and noting that his former chief of staff served as ambassador to Barbados.
"I couldn't be more proud of her and the important role she will continue to play in my father's administration," said Donald Trump, Jr. after his father announced the nomination of his ex.
Before her television career, Guilfoyle was an assistant district attorney in San Francisco and later often served as Trump's surrogate at campaign events.

A source close to Guilfoyle scoffed at the idea that the embassy assignment to Athens was motivated by the end of her relationship with the president's son.
"People would say that he is deporting you to Greece. If I were to kick my ex out somewhere, it certainly wouldn't be Mykonos. Donald Trump, Jr., is very supportive of the movement, as are some of his friends who have known Guilfoyle for years. They still talk. They are very close," the source said, quoted by the Daily Mail.
Trump's surprise return to power has galvanized many of his opponents, and his controversial cabinet picks have drawn a strong reception from Republicans who will take over the Senate.
Other choices that have raised eyebrows have included Trump's announcement that he will send Charles Kushner, father of son-in-law Jared Kushner, to Paris.
Trump pardoned Charles Kushner in the last days of his sentence during his first term. The real estate billionaire served time in prison for tax evasion and witness tampering for an incident where he hired a prostitute to sleep with his brother-in-law so he could record her and send a tape to his sister.
This week, Trump announced that he would nominate Nicole McGraw, who runs a Palm Beach art gallery, as ambassador to Croatia and real estate broker Arthur Graham Fisher as ambassador to Austria.
Trump called McGraw a "world-renowned philanthropist, businesswoman and art collector."
He also announced that he would nominate Lou Rinaldi, a friend of 30 years with whom he often plays golf, as ambassador to Uruguay.
"Lou is a great golfer and he's going to be in a place with some great courses," Trump said.
He failed to mention that there is a Trump Tower in Punta del Este, Uruguay, which features Trump Golf and a driving range.
While Trump's choice for Luxembourg is Stacey Feinberg.
Supporting Trump's push to stock embassies with his cronies: has a long history of sending big donors and even longtime political aides overseas, with about a third of the assignments normally going to 'political' people .
