The head of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCA), the state of Minnesota's primary criminal investigation agency, Drew Evans, said at a press conference Saturday that he still does not know the whereabouts of the federal agents involved in the 37-year-old's killing. He added that the situation has put authorities in "uncharted territory."
Evans explained that historically the bureau, which conducts more than 80% of officer-involved shooting investigations, has no clearly defined procedure in cases involving federal ICE agents.
Acknowledging the significant obstacles facing the investigation into the recent shooting in Minneapolis, which involved a federal agent, Evans said there remains uncertainty about how the investigative process will move forward.
