After the digital signing of the memorandum of understanding, US officials reveal the main points of the agreement. Sanctions may be eased, but the US does not plan to immediately withdraw the military presence.

A day after the United States and Iran digitally signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the escalation of tensions between the two countries, new details about the content of the agreement have come to light.

According to information published by Sky News, citing senior American officials, Tehran has agreed to make significant concessions regarding its nuclear program, while Washington has expressed its willingness to discuss easing sanctions and unblocking frozen Iranian funds.

However, the US administration has no intention of immediately reducing its military presence in the Middle East. Washington officials have announced that US forces will remain in the region until it is verified that Iran is fully respecting the commitments made in the memorandum.

According to the same sources, any decision to withdraw US troops will be considered only after a final agreement is reached between the parties.

On the economic front, the US has left open the possibility of gradually easing sanctions and releasing frozen Iranian assets. US officials have described the process as a series of "reciprocal small steps", stressing that any concessions from the US side will be conditional on concrete actions by Tehran.

They have also underlined that there will be no secret agreements and that the process will be characterized by complete transparency.

US Vice President JD Vance also appears to have played a significant role in the negotiations. According to administration officials, President Donald Trump personally asked the White House's number two to be directly involved in the talks, turning the process into an initiative led by the highest levels of American power.

US sources also revealed that Washington has expressed dissatisfaction with the role of Oman, which until now had served as a traditional mediator between the US and Iran. According to them, the US administration considers Muscat close to Iranian positions and for this reason has opened new channels of communication through Pakistan and Qatar.

These contacts, according to officials, have helped establish direct lines with the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, one of the signatories of the memorandum.

On the other hand, the Trump administration believes that Iran is in a weaker position than in recent decades. American officials claim that the Iranian economy is under great pressure, while the country's nuclear program has been severely damaged by recent developments.

They argue that these conditions have created a favorable moment for reaching a long-term agreement.

One of the issues that has drawn attention is the fact that the memorandum was not signed by Iran's supreme leader. According to US officials, this is in line with the practice followed in the 2015 nuclear deal, when Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was not a signatory to the document.

On behalf of Tehran, the memorandum was signed by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while on behalf of the US, President Donald Trump, along with Vice President JD Vance, signed the memorandum.

The official signing ceremony of the agreement is expected to take place on Friday in Switzerland, while the parties are preparing for a new round of technical negotiations that will determine the next steps for its implementation.

Agreed points

-Immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping.

-End of the US naval blockade of Iran.

-Launching technical negotiations for a broader and long-term agreement.

-Iran's concessions on its nuclear program, with Tehran accepting new restrictions and commitments (details not yet made public).

-The possibility of unblocking frozen Iranian funds, gradually and conditionally.

-Progressive easing of US sanctions, depending on Iran's compliance with the agreement.

-The principle of reciprocity, where every step by the US will be accompanied by a corresponding action by Tehran.

-Full transparency in the process, without secret or side agreements.

-Maintaining the American military presence in the region, at least until the verification of the implementation of Iranian commitments.

-Ceasefire and reduction of tensions on regional fronts, including Lebanon, according to interpretations published by the Iranian side and Hezbollah.

-A negotiation period of approximately 60 days, during which a final political, military and nuclear agreement is expected to be negotiated.
