Ukrainians already control 1000 square kilometers in Rus i.
According to its commander-in-chief Alexander Sirsky, the Ukrainian army has now brought under its control an area of about one thousand square kilometers in its advance in the western Russian border region of Kursk.
"We continue to conduct offensive operations in the Kursk region. At the moment we control about a thousand square kilometers of the territory of the Russian Federation," Sirski said in a video released Monday showing him meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In connection with the Kursk offensive, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke symbolically of the end of Putin's rule in a video message.
"24 years ago, the Kursk disaster happened, the symbolic beginning of his rule," the president said. By this he means the submarine "Kursk", which sank in 2000 and killed 118 crew members. Putin was sworn in as president just a few months ago.
"And now we are experiencing what seems to be the end of it... again with Kursk," Zelensky continued.
"It is the catastrophe of his war. This is always the fate of those who ignore people and rules.”
The Ukrainian president emphasizes: "Russia brought war to others and now the war is coming home." Ukraine, on the other hand, "has always wanted only peace" and "without a doubt" will ensure peace.
