In an interview for the '60 Minutes' program, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the world should unite against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We are really fighting a nuclear state that threatens to destroy the world. Look, if Ukraine falls, what will happen in ten years? Just think about it. If the Russians reach Poland, what will happen next? A Third World War?”
Zelensky told '60 Minutes' that if Western countries provide Ukraine with advanced weapons, his country will be able to expel Russian troops much faster.
The Ukrainian president is now bracing for a protracted conflict as the Russian leader hopes Ukraine's western allies will lose interest in supporting the war.
Another concern remains the constant attacks as winter approaches. Last winter, Russian forces destroyed power plants, leaving millions of people in the dark. But during the interview, Zelensky said that Ukraine will attack the Russian infrastructure.
"They need to know if it cuts off our power, cuts us off electricity, cuts us off water, cuts us off gas, we're going to do the same thing, we're going to destroy that infrastructure."
The Ukrainian president has left for the USA, where the UN General Assembly will be held, where the war in Ukraine is expected to dominate the discussion agenda. During the working week of the UN General Assembly, the Ukrainian president will participate in a meeting of the Security Council, which will be chaired by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, since Albania has the next presidency of the Security Council. About 150 leaders are expected to attend the high-level talks.
