A newly married Austrian couple tragically lost their lives in Greece, where they had gone for their honeymoon. According to what the BBC writes, the house where they had gone on vacation, in Potistika, was destroyed by torrential rains, as a result of storm Daniel that hit the country on September 6.
Although their names have not been released, the Austrian Foreign Ministry said their identities were confirmed through DNA.
"It is with great pain that we have to confirm the death of two Austrian citizens in Greece. The comparison of DNA profiles have already confirmed the identities of the two missing persons. In these difficult times, we express our condolences to the families," said a spokesman for the Austrian Foreign Ministry in a reaction to the BBC.
On Saturday, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said his country was facing 'war in peacetime'. "Over a period of two weeks, we faced the worst fires and floods in our history," he said.
