The United States has set a June deadline for Ukraine and Russia to reach an agreement to end the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

If the deadline is not met, the Trump administration is expected to pressure both sides to reach an agreement.

"The Americans are proposing that the parties end the war by the beginning of summer and will probably put pressure on this very deadline," Zelensky told reporters on Friday, according to the Associated Press. His comments were under embargo until Saturday morning.

"They say they want everything to be over by June. And that they will do everything to end the war. They want a clear timetable for all the phases," he said.

New round of trilateral talks next week

Zelensky also said that the US had proposed that the next round of trilateral talks be held next week, for the first time on its soil, most likely in Miami.

"We have confirmed our participation," he added.

The new deadline comes after US-brokered trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi. However, no progress has been made, as the parties involved remain deadlocked in mutually incompatible positions.

Russia is pressuring Ukraine to withdraw from Donbas, where fighting remains fierce, but Kiev says it will not accept the condition.

Ukraine will not accept that the US and Russia reach agreements without Kiev's participation, Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated, noting that "Ukraine will not support agreements that concern it without its participation" in the talks.

Musk blocks Russians from accessing Starlink

Zelensky reveals Trump's plan to end the war, billionaire Elon Musk

Two days after Elon Musk's SpaceX began testing Starlink and blocked untested terminals in Ukraine, the pace of the Russian offensive appears to be slowing, a Ukrainian military official told Politico.

"Currently, this trend has indeed been observed. But it will be necessary to monitor further whether it continues or whether other factors intervene ," said the official, who was granted anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, according to Politico.

“However, in some places, the Starlink systems of Ukrainian military personnel who had not yet registered have also been disconnected. But the registration process is ongoing,” the official added. “In fact, they have problems now. They are like blind kittens,” a commander of the Ukrainian General Staff, who also remained anonymous, told Politico separately.

Earlier this week, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, in coordination with SpaceX, began testing Starlink terminals to protect civilians from Russian drones, which began illegally using Starlink connections during massive attacks on Ukraine’s power grid. “This action is a direct response to the illegal use of Starlink terminals by Russian forces. Russian drones equipped with Starlink are difficult to intercept: they fly at low altitudes, are resistant to electronic warfare, and can be piloted in real time from long distances,” the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement to Politico.
