Senior Palestinian official: Hamas seeks ceasefire agreement, Israel does not withdraw from war

Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Haya said we want negotiations and a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants the war to continue.

"Hamas has not withdrawn from the ceasefire negotiations," said Al Haya.

A group of Palestinian militants said efforts to agree a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip had ended after Israel rejected an international proposal.

"Ceasefire talks in the Gaza Strip ended after Israel indicated to internationals, including the US, Egypt and Qatar, Tel Aviv's reservations about Hamas' proposal to release the hostages," an Israeli official told Reuters.
