Dozens of civilians have been killed by the attacks in Gaza, among them the local journalist Bahaa Okasha, who lost his life together with his wife and son in an Israeli attack on their home in the Jabalia refugee camp.
Palestinian media reports that at least 10 people were killed and many others injured, including children, in an Israeli bombardment.
Israeli warplanes and artillery have also pounded the central and eastern areas of the southern city of Rafah, which is reportedly now surrounded by the Israeli army while a ground operation will take place soon.
Casualties were reported after Israeli strikes in northern Gaza City, including the home of the Siam family, located in the city's Old City areas.
"Al Jazeera Arabic" reports that three people were killed and several wounded in the Sabra and Zeitoun neighborhoods of Gaza City.
