After Lefter Koka and Ilir Beqaj, Tërmet Peçi is also expected to surrender his mandate as a member of parliament to avoid public arrest. But Babloku's "surrender and you will be saved" scenario has led everyone to the "7 windows". This one is also falling... with the promise that it will only last a month.

It is expected that the former mayor of Tepelena, Tërmet Peçi, one of Prime Minister Edi Rama's closest and most entertaining characters, liked for his humility and grotesque profile, will remain out of the political game, even before entering Parliament.

Reliable sources from Tepelena have informed "Pamphlet" that Tërmet Peçi, before the start of the legislature on September 8, will hand over the mandate of the deputy he won on May 11, because he has been prosecuted by SPAK for abuse of office in collaboration with the aim of profit.

His file includes criminal offenses of document forgery, corruption with tenders, theft of public funds, abuse of state lands, and money laundering through official decisions and a network of companies linked to his family and subordinates during his time as mayor.

On June 16, 2025, BKH agents seized documents and files at the Municipality of Tepelena, including tenders, distribution of public funds, land grants, and decisions signed by Peçi.

A month later, the BKH completed the preliminary investigation into Peçi and his group, and is in the final phase of the investigation into suspicious land deals and tenders with high economic value.

Tërmet Peçi has been officially notified of the results of the investigation and, according to sources, will be summoned by the BKH and SPAK within August as a person subject to criminal proceedings.

Due to the number and serious nature of the charges, it is expected that he will be arrested before the start of the legislature. In all likelihood, this action is coordinated with Edi Rama, who has received information from SPAK and has decided to avoid an arrest of the MP.

Sources from the SP say that Rama has asked Peçi to hand over his mandate before being sworn in as an MP and to no longer appear in public, with the promise that the arrest will be formal and brief, perhaps just house arrest.

This seems like a repeat of previous scenarios with Lefter Koka and Ilir Beqaj, whom Rama asked to resign with the promise of lenient legal treatment. But both ended up in prison with harsh sentences.

On September 1, 2021, a week before the start of the Assembly, Lefter Koka handed over his mandate according to the agreement with the Prime Minister, but was arrested just four months later and is still in prison.

The same thing happened with Ilir Beqaj, who did not take over the mandate left vacant by Benet Beci, as Rama requested on April 12, 2023, but was arrested in July 2024.

Tërmet Peçi, although he trusts Rama, is on the same path as his predecessors. History so far shows that whoever hands over the mandate cannot avoid the "7 windows". / Pamphlet
