Edi Rama, the "stepfather" of the North

The repeated failure of the Milot - Balldren road, while millions of additional euros continue to finance Palasa...

At a time when infrastructure projects in the north of the country continue to fail spectacularly, the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama is not sparing a single penny to fulfill the "tourist dreams" of the south. The auction for the strategic Milot - Balldren road has failed again, clearly proving that the north remains in the deliberate oblivion of government funding.

Meanwhile, in the south, where Rama's financial attention seems to know no bounds, just a few days ago an additional fund of 7.1 million euros was allocated for the connecting roads of the Llogara tunnel. This fund comes on top of the astronomical cost of 185 million euros that was spent on the tunnel itself, which has now been completed.

This situation raises serious questions about the transparency and management of public funds, as according to experts, these additional investments were planned and financed in the initial project contract.

The tender announced in the Public Procurement Bulletin on August 4, 2025, which envisages the construction of a road only 2.7 kilometers long connecting the Llogara tunnel with the Palasa area, is considered by analysts as a financial "scandal". Unjustified expenses, opaque procedures and dubious financial priorities clearly demonstrate the regional differentiation that the Rama government is implementing.

Edi Rama, the "stepfather" of the North

While in the north, infrastructure projects face chronic failures and neglect, in the south, any request for additional funds is approved without hesitation. This blatantly discriminatory policy has led not only to deep economic and social polarization, but also to growing frustration among northern communities who continue to wait in line for the attention of a government that has abandoned them.

While in the north, infrastructure projects have been left to privatize and citizens have to pay for every kilometer, in the south, roads are built with everyone's money, turning the state budget into a personal credit card for the prime minister and his clients. This open regional differentiation has fueled the frustration and anger of communities in the north, who feel increasingly abandoned and used only as a source to fill the coffers of oligarchs and "clients" of power./ Pamphlet
