The Municipality of Tirana is being treated like post-war Berlin, where the victorious or occupying forces of Germany administered the city by dividing it into zones of influence...
Today, Edi Rama decided to remove the entire elected administration of the Tirana municipality by the votes of the citizens on May 14, 2023.
But unlike other municipalities, where a competition was opened to replace the departed vice mayors and directors, in Tirana, Rama is implementing a strategy of looting and robbery.
In this change that the Prime Minister has undertaken, it is clear how much political strength Erion Veliaj has. Rama has found it impossible to place a person in charge of the Municipality.
According to the configuration of the vice presidents, it seems that they have been placed next to the names of government ministers.
Gonxhe has appointed the director of the Directorate of Vehicles, Ilir Mengra, to the position of deputy chairman, Malaj has appointed the director of the budget, Vasilika Vjero, Blendi Sulaj, a former official of the Republican Party of the Middle East, and Gentian Keri, who worked as secretary general at the Ministry of Energy, as deputy chairman.
This operation by Edi Rama seems to have a clear goal of turning the Tirana municipality into a war zone where the entire administration is dismantled and considered as war booty. In a way, the Tirana Municipality is being treated like post-war Berlin, where the victorious or occupying forces of Germany administered the city by dividing it into zones of influence.
Rama's intention seems to have a reason, after a delusion he received in the May 11 elections in Tirana, where the Socialist Party lost more than 2 thousand votes in each municipal unit. Rama sees this as a great risk, so he has brought the ministers into play so that they take over employment and management, so that in the next elections they have the responsibility to increase the votes. Edi Rama seems to be anticipating a revolt by Erion Veliaj and his supporters, who refuse to let go of the mayor of Tirana, as Edi Rama did. Who in a survey he recently conducted with a well-known institute, got a bad result for him and a good one for Veliaj. Because, according to the survey, the majority of citizens continue to have a positive political perception of Erion Veliaj.
Therefore, Rama has decided to completely plow the political terrain of the Tirana municipality, removing all the current figures and replacing them not with a public administration, but with political appointees.
Which seem to be the basis of a future political game in the by-elections, if they take place, or the general elections of 2027.
According to the signals coming from these appointments, it seems clear that Rama is seeking to launch Vasilika Vjeron as a political figure, who will not be surprised if she runs for mayor in the upcoming elections. In reality, she is the most important deputy mayor covering the financial sector, i.e. income and expenses.
Edi Rama is practically giving Vjero a try to manage Tirana in a temporary period, until the elections. And if there are results, it is likely that she will be the name of the majority to replace Erion Veliaj. But the game is not over, as the mayor, not only refuses to step down, but will soon wage a political battle to defend his achievements that gave him three mandates. Which will openly be nothing more than a war with Edi Rama./ Pamphlet
