Officially, this election campaign has run its course, even before it has even begun. Both sides of Albanian politics are, not to be pitied, but at the most ordinary level that the history of Albania has ever seen.
With a dozen close associates in prison, now without a way out and without an official version of what is happening to his people, Edi Rama has hidden behind the tawny owl. Babloku pretends to mock and has even chosen this as the official leitmotif of his campaign, but in fact the ground beneath his feet has trembled and his future and that of those left behind is still very uncertain. The owl is heard in the morning, at lunch and at dinner.
In front of him, Sali Berisha, the resurrected dead of Albanian politics, without a precise program, without a philosophy or, at least, a good political cause, stays vigilant waiting for Rama's posts to respond. That's right-wing politics today: flame after flame of Rama's mockery, forgetting what an opposition has to do to come to power. An even more deplorable behavior if you think that Edi Rama has so many points where he can be politically attacked, that if we had had a normal opposition, this torturous power would have fallen in time. Enough with the people that Edi Rama has in prison. But no, the undead DP only responds to Rama's jokes.
But Rama has been shaken and his power no longer seems as consolidated as it felt a few months ago. With a bunch of megalomaniacs around him, who see themselves as untouchable and immortal, Babloku has had to think of a strategy to stay in power. He can no longer talk about successes, the doctrine of EU membership is very weak, economic growth is a fairy tale, so to win a fourth mandate, Babloku is doing what he knows how to do best: he is collaborating with crime and the scum of business and the formula he has chosen is: give me a vote, I'll give you a tower. It is not for nothing that last year ended with a dozen permits, given mainly to the exponents of crime who, after the May 11 elections, will roam the streets of Albania even more freely.
In 2024 alone, the KKT approved almost 2 million square meters of construction area. 60% more than in 2023, against values that exceed 500 million euros. The figures are worthy of competition with 118 other permits for towers granted this year throughout Albania, 16 of which in Tirana, with more than 25 floors each.
Construction permits have been divided among the names of not only "strategic investors", but also exponents with files under review and ready to be handcuffed by the Justice. The latter are the real salvation of Edi Rama, the thread on which he is holding on to get another mandate and to give himself time, to escape prison. The gangs of Elbasan, Durrës and Tirana prevail, who after having fed up with Babloku have also promised power for a fourth mandate.
This seems to be the reason why "experts" close to the government come out and defend the thesis that the "construction bubble" will never burst in Albania and that construction is the most solid and honest investment in the country. A tale that not even the barn owl believes anymore. Even that owl on which Edi Rama but raises the philosophy of this campaign and which in the end will return to finally drag even the owner into the swamp. / Pamphlet
