The second American "slap" for Edi Rama!
Rama-Wisner

According to the ambassador, we need stability, predictability, fight against corruption, commitment and dedication to it...

Prime Minister Edi Rama received another strong slap from the Americans today. He gave you the first one a few days ago regarding the famous anti-corruption commission, after the US made it clear that it does not like the rush and also that the reform in justice should not be affected.

But today the blow was stronger and more direct. US Chargé d'Affaires David Wisner was a guest on a 'Monitor' magazine podcast, where he gave very strong messages.

Focusing on the economic situation in the country, he sounded the alarm on the level of corruption and chaos with taxes and economic stability. According to him, American businesses find it very difficult to invest in Albania because they face numerous problems.

" I think stability, predictability, especially in the tax and regulatory environment, are absolutely critical. I'll be honest, whenever an American business comes and talks to us, these points are at the top of the list. Land ownership issues are, of course, massive. Because you should know that what is under your feet will be yours tomorrow, and that it is not standing on a question mark.

This is extremely important. The progress that has been made in justice reform and, of course, more must be done to reduce corruption, is absolutely critical for American businesses. I hear this all the time. Businesses want to know they will be treated fairly ," he said.

According to the ambassador, we need stability, predictability, fight against corruption, commitment and dedication to it. It is understood from his statement that despite the fact that justice is proceeding, our country still remains a chaotic country for the world.

Giving American businesses a fair chance. This is what they want. There is no need for anything special for us. But if we know we can compete, we will compete. I think it is very important to understand that the resolution of some land ownership issues will be critically important. And, of course, all the efforts that the government is making to keep young Albanians here will be absolutely essential, because in a knowledge economy, such as Europe, and it is its future, having motivated young people, extraordinary, it will be absolutely essential ," he said.

Wisner's messages should be a wake-up call to the government. They also show a kind of course change. So far, Wisner has been reticent. Even a reaction that the embassy had when Rama proposed the anti-corruption commission aroused surprise. However, the statement was later corrected and it seems that the Americans are making it clear to Rama that the country is mired in corruption and illegality. / Pamphlet
