Erion Veliaj's public warning to reveal "confessions" about the trap against him has stirred up the political scene and prompted nervous reactions from Edi Rama. The new investigation into the "May 5" demolitions seems more like a response from the government than a real legal process. But Veliaj's message suggests that his targets are not only the prime minister, but also the figures who surround him, risking hitting the very pillars on which Rama's power is held.
The launch of the next investigation against Erion Veliaj for the demolitions on "May 5" may seem coincidental, but the fact that it happened a day after the dismissed former mayor warned that "now I will speak openly" makes it look like a coordinated political move.
On September 11, as soon as Rama publicly declared that he would dismiss Veliaj, SPAK took another file to the Court. This is not the first time: every time there have been signals of an action by Veliaj, a new procedural act has "coincidentally" occurred.
A strong message from Veliaj
In his last message on social media, Veliaj wrote:
"I am posting for everyone, the first of a series of stories, from those who, with or without intent, contributed to the trap set against me, which produced an illegal investigation from anonymity, a 20-year vetting of my life, a capital sabotaged while it was at the peak of success, an inhuman persecution of my family and a grotesque isolation, as if I were a war criminal or a cartel leader."
This message, according to sources, has concerned not only Veliaj's direct opponents, but also many figures and groups who may be included in his "narratives".
First shot: Arbër Mazniku
It is no coincidence that immediately after this warning, the first to be hit was Arbër Mazniku, who was not included in the new government. Rama seems to have seen him as a weak and potentially dangerous link.
In fact, the decision of the GJKKO to open investigations against Veliaj and Maznik for the demolitions on "5 May" seems more like a forced move. We are not dealing with a simple municipal issue, but with a complex public project, the construction of the Great Ring Road. The launch of the investigation, according to analysts, is more of a ploy to intimidate Veliaj and remind Maznik that no one is untouchable.
A coded clash
This investigation is not just another "ordeal" for Veliaj, but a nervous reaction of Rama to his post. Until the Constitutional Court's decision on the appeal and perhaps even until Strasbourg, Veliaj is not expected to open a direct confrontation with Rama. But his message was a clear signal that he will not be silent.
For many, this was a warning that Veliaj would not directly attack Rama, but the "tools" and people who prepared the trap for him. A strategy that could be more destabilizing, because it affects the supporting pillars of power, making the prime minister more insecure.
