The exaggerated political role of the businessman, the game of favorites and how the party is turning into a clientelistic enterprise...
Gjergj Luca has become a media figure who dominates social networks, appearing as a real patron and important client of the Socialist Party.
In public appearances, Luca, known for his exaggerated rhetoric and connections with the "strongmen" in Albania, claims to have secured electoral victories for the SP in Lezha in 2013, later in Elbasan, and most recently in Shkodra, where he presented his nephew as a candidate for MP.
Luca publicly claims that he was the key factor in the Socialists' victory in Lezha, presenting this success as revenge against the Democratic Party, which, according to him, had led him to bankruptcy.
Historical reality shows otherwise: Lezha has been a socialist bastion since 1992, when the Socialist Party won the municipality with Agron Dibra. In Mirdita, the socialists have historically received over 50% of the votes, while in Kurbin they even elected deputies in 1997, during the severe crisis.
In Elbasan, where Luca received the factories almost for free from the Rama government, he made no special discoveries. The Labinot and Elbasan area has historically been a strong center of socialist support since the Second World War.
Even in Dukagjin, where the late teacher Lekë Çukaj won against a senior DP figure like Ali Spahia, the socialist successes are the result of a long political tradition and not the "magic" of Luca.
However, Luca's protagonism is not at all accidental. He exaggerates his political importance because this is tolerated by Edi Rama. The Prime Minister could "quench" his excessive enthusiasm with a single phone call, but he does not do so because Luca's protagonism serves as a symbol of the new clientelistic model that the SP is building.
Essentially, Gjergj Luca is the face of a system where the Socialist Party is increasingly transforming into a clientelist enterprise, where "Babloku" delegates powers and benefits to clients and "beylers" who move according to momentary interests.
In this system, Luca is nothing more than a modern version of the LSI, which, although it operates without the political rhetoric of Ilir Meta, has the same logic of exploiting power for personal interests./ Pamphlet
