Making a mockery of peace in Gaza!

Peace or deception? Gaza on the brink of explosion today

In the early hours of this morning, Israeli warplanes again bombed the Rafah area in southern Gaza, while armed clashes were reported in some parts of the city. The Israeli military claims that it was fired upon by Hamas militants with anti-tank missiles and fire at ground troops. In response, it has taken "preventive actions", including air strikes and the total closure of the border crossing with Egypt.

Meanwhile, Palestinian authorities in Gaza have accused Israel of repeated ceasefire violations, reporting dozens of civilians killed and wounded in the past three days alone. The toll is mounting daily as the peace deal, brokered and vociferously promoted by the Donald Trump administration, crumbles before the eyes of the entire world.

On the Israeli side, there is no shortage of excuses. The claim is the same: Hamas is using the pause to catch its breath, to rearm, to maintain control of territory, and to delay the release of hostages. On the other hand, Hamas sees any intervention as a brutal violation and manipulation of the agreement, warning that the process could fail completely if this approach continues.

In reality, everything that is happening today shows that the ceasefire was never a peace agreement – it was a tactical pause. And now that both sides see it as unsuitable for their interests, they are finding excuses to undermine it. Meanwhile, the citizens of Gaza live in a gray area between the illusion of peace and the horror of war.

What is most dangerous today is not just missiles or planes. It is the political game being played on the shoulders of millions of civilians. Donald Trump presented himself as a man of peace, who solved what others could not. In fact, he brought an agreement that was not rooted in any real guarantees, and became more of a show for his presidential campaign than a plan for a long-term solution.

On the other hand, Benjamin Netanyahu has used this agreement to strengthen his domestic positions. Instead of reducing tensions, he has chosen to talk about “harsh action,” about disarmament at all costs, about hostage handovers as a precondition for opening borders. The vocabulary is that of a leader who thinks about polls, not lives.

This situation is no longer just dangerous, it is hopeless if it continues like this. Because when leaders use peace as a stage and war as a lever for power, then people have nothing to expect but new tragedies. And when international observers are silent, when aid is stuck at closed borders and when families count the dead, every word about “diplomatic progress” sounds like an insult.

In this dark hour, more than ever, it must be said openly: responsibility is no longer shared in the abstract. It has names, it has accounts to give. And if peace fails because of the arrogance of leaders who play with fire for personal interests, then history will judge them by the same standard by which the victims are being judged today, unjustly, in silence, and too late. /Pamphlet
