"The fall below 100 lek will continue"/ Experts explain the reasons

It will continue to fall, this is the new normal, we will have an unstable European currency.

The euro has dropped below 100 lek, thus crossing the "red line". This means that the considered hard currency is no longer so. Invited to A2 Business, Dritan Vakaj, executive director of the association of foreign exchange offices, has listed the reasons that have led to the fall of the European currency and strengthening of the lek.

" We have a government that is not spending, while this year there were probably innovations from previous years, such as the introduction of small business into the profit tax and the increase in the fiscal burden for small and medium-sized businesses, while the government has a surplus of 3 -4 billion, which are not being used in the form of investments, which has reduced the demand for lek, we have over 40% of loans in euros, transactions in euros. The government has not come to the aid of this high offer of the euro. Without mentioning the informal economy and the money from crime" , expert Vakaj listed.

But for Zef Precin, former Minister of Economy, this phenomenon is not exceptional, saying that the money generated by criminal activity has a great influence, and that according to him the government "closes its eyes".

" Nothing that should be seen as extraordinary. This level of the euro reflects the pumping of criminal money into the economy, there is an inexplicable tolerance of criminal activities that is expressed in euros, the level of informality remains high, there is also a weakening of the detection power of legal institutions ", said Zef Preçi, former economy minister.

On the other hand, for expert Brunilda Isai, tourism, investments by non-residents in real estate, the increase of remittances are sufficient factors that justify the fall of the euro.

" If we refer to the figures, we have an increase in tourism, that a source of foreign currency that is visible is justified, meanwhile the investments of non-residents in real estate, this is an increased flow, remittances are also increasing, these factors which in our opinion justify them, even the restrictions of throwing the lek into the market have influenced its strengthening ", said the expert Brunilda Isai.

While the euro has fallen to the lowest level, expert Pano Soko emphasizes that the trend will continue to grow.

" It will continue to fall, this is the new normal, we will have an unstable European currency", said Soko.

Therefore, Arben Shkodra, General Secretary of the Union of Albanian Producers, says that businesses must adapt to the "new rules", otherwise the consequences will be murderous.
