The Albanian government is secretly changing the deal for the Sazan resort, passing on to taxpayers the costs of energy, water, plant, mine clearance, yacht port and studies worth millions of euros – a luxury stunner for Trump's daughter, in the name of "national prestige."

The affair of donating the island of Sazan, with a surface area of 45 hectares in a protected area, was not enough. Prime Minister Edi Rama, in addition to giving public land for 30 years, is preparing to finance the construction of infrastructure that will serve the luxury resort of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump, from the taxes of Albanian citizens.
According to confidential sources in the Ministry of Finance, the Albanian government is secretly changing the content of Decision No. 23, dated December 30, 2024, by shifting the obligations that the private company “Atlantic Incubation Partners” should cover to the state budget. Initially, the decision stipulated that the company itself would build and finance the 15 km lines for energy and water from Vlora to Sazan, the wastewater network, the waste processing plant and its evacuation.
But the Agreement Negotiation Group, led by Minister Blendi Gonxhe, has requested that these costs be covered by the Albanian state. Two other projects have also been added: a yacht port and an aerodrome on the island, both in service of the resort, with public funding.
The preliminary assessment shows that around 125 million euros of public funds will be spent on the construction of these infrastructure elements alone.
That's not all. In point 6 of the government decision, it is stated that the area where the resort will be built has war debris and explosives left over from the period when Sazani served as a military base. The cost of cleaning the area is estimated at 11 million euros, all from the state budget.
In point 13 of the decision, the Albanian state also undertakes to finance the technical, legal, financial and environmental expertise that will be carried out by local and foreign experts in service of the project. An additional 6 million euros are foreseen from the public budget for this process.
In total, the Albanian state will spend 142 million euros on a resort that will be the private property and profit of the Trump family. The official justification is that this is “a strategic investment, which will strengthen the economy, tourism, and increase the international prestige of the country.”
But in reality, this is one of the most unfair and expensive deals for Albanian citizens – a power pact, camouflaged as strategic development, where the government pays, the company wins and the taxpayer loses./ Pamphlet
