The euro and the US dollar strengthened significantly against the Lek today. According to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania, the European currency was exchanged today for 109.08 ALL, or 1.45 ALL more than yesterday.
Economy expert, Zef Preçi, says that he sees no reason for the phenomenon of normalization of exchange rate stability to happen.
In an interview for Report TV, Preçi said that the increase in tourists does not really dictate the exchange rate, but he sees it as more connected to supply and demand.

The economic expert also proposes that Albania should build a stage that leads to the replacement of the Albanian lek with the euro unilaterally.
"Albania must build a scene that leads to the unilateral replacement of the Albanian lek with the euro. On the one hand, the currency is the symbol of the state, but it changes with the dynamics of time. At the same time, it is an indicator of confidence, if today in the Albanian economy most of the transactions, most of the prices in real estate are based on the euro and the trend is towards this currency. There is no reason why steps should not be taken to move towards this currency, which brings it even closer to the EU.", said Preci.
