Politically, the alliance with Roshi, although entirely local, even tribal, is essentially real. Berisha doesn't see the color of the cat, he just wants to catch mice.
Sali Berisha and the DP responded to Edi Rama's five-pointed star at the campaign opening with the people that SPAK has arrested from and close to the majority. But it was interesting that Elvis Roshi was missing from that photo montage. The attack on the former mayor of Kavaja was grossly exaggerated, but it was the DP that took it upon itself to make it a moral banner of the movement.
Elvis Roshi's appearance alongside his cousin Elton Roshi at an electoral meeting is an exaggeration if it could be used politically. But not in the case of the former mayor of Kavaja, whom the DP has had as a political target.
Let's put it this way: Today Sali Berisha has an ally, Elvis Roshi, and an opponent, Evi Kokalari. She was the only American who came to his support in the fight with Basha.
Of course, Mrs. Kokalari had her own reasons and interests, just as Elvis Roshi has his own reasons in the campaign against his relative today. All of this is the dialectic of real or tribal politics. But in reality, the fable here has been conceived as moral politics over the years.
With a morale that has been inverted, of course, on January 21 they attacked not Berisha, but Agron Malaj, and on March 15 they attacked not Shkelzen Berisha, but the SP government.
But it must be said that the Partizani file was a proof-of-concept for this logic, with most opposition opinion saying that Berisha is accused without evidence.
No one has read the file, which is dramatically heading towards exceeding deadlines, and if that happens, then all the processes that SPAK has initiated will be nullified. Ultimately.
However, beyond the criminal aspect, which is used politically with malice rather than logic, today it must be said that Sali Brisha has allies who benefit him, regardless of decriminalization.
Politically, the alliance with Roshi, although entirely local, even tribal, is essentially real. Berisha doesn't see the color of the cat, he just wants to catch mice.
A pragmatism that overthrows the logic of the 12-year-old opposition, not at the core of what Albanian politics really is, which is pragmatist. But that has overthrown its narrative.
Why has Berisha become an ally with Elvis Roshi in Kavaja? Because the latter is an important local figure, he has votes. Which before 2011 he had for the DP and from 2011 to 2017 he had for the SP.
But why did Berisha support Roshi and abandon Kokalari? Because the former sought a mandate as an MP in Kavaja and the latter seemed to claim national leadership.
What did Berisha and the DP gain in this election? Berisha may win a mandate, but the DP may lose political perception. And here is the point, Sali Berisha needs a mandate more than perception, because he does not play for victory.
