He sees himself as a "reborn" leader, forgetting that the years do their work, but also that the traces left on his 35-year journey have consumed everything he thought would bring him victory.
What we saw at the opening of the two electoral campaigns, of the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party, was special only for the ruling majority. The opposition opened its campaign with the old standard. The stranger came out, gave an annoying speech, so much so that he himself seemed to be saying "when will I finish this tedious recitation", and then Berisha spoke with difficulty. I was reminded of the past years. Exactly, "toithio", as if it were 1996, or 2001, even worse 2005. There were the same quotes, the same oratory, the same howls, the same warnings about the political opponent.
There were those provocations against the socialists again, even though Berisha knows very well that on May 11, it is impossible for him to win. Berisha has never known how to campaign. He has never known how to introduce new and moderate elements into the electoral campaign program. It looked like the old dance, where losses were predetermined. If you follow him carefully, Berisha is trying very hard to imitate Edi Rama. In all his speeches, in all his appearances on social networks, even more so when he tries to copy him through live communication with "digital citizens".
He sees himself as a "reborn" leader, forgetting that the years do their work, but also the traces left in the 35-year journey have consumed everything he thought would bring him victory. Saliu cannot become Edi. Berisha does not understand and does not accept this. Edi is himself, Edi is objective, he is realistic, he is without complexes, and he does not accept being treated by any foreigner, as a Balkanist, but as a dignified Europeanist. With Edi there are no compromises at the expense of the party, with Saliu this always happens when his interests are affected.
With Edin, you cannot be "captain" at the political tables, since he imposes himself on you to behave as an equal. Whereas with Saliu, the opposite happens, only hoping for a little power and longevity in politics. With Edin, there is no agreement at the expense of national interests, while with Saliu, they are affected, always when his personal interests are affected. Edi does not hold power by force, but only accepts power with the vote of the majority of Albanians, while Saliu, even under the barrage of cannons and Kalashnikovs, agreed to be elected president and hold power by force of arms.
This is the change, this is the difference, this is the carpet of confrontation from where, this time, Berisha finds it impossible to dance the leader's dance until the end. It belongs to Edi Rama until 2030, perhaps even beyond, until Albania is sitting "cross-legged" in the EU.
