These days that Lulzim Basha is looking to replace all the time he was gone, no one is talking. The only one who put a pin on the former president was Evin Saljanji, who has already opened with Foltore, even though he officially remained the vice president of the DP parliamentary group...
It was not expected that this would happen. So that Lulzim Basha, who has had an allergy to the media and such great prominence, filled the screens, and none of his "opponents" in the Democratic Party, they all remained silent. No one thought of this. Of course, before April 25, 2021, no one dared to attack Luli, there was even a competition to see who flattered him the most, but after March 6, 2022, everyone drowned him. Few, with fingers, are those deputies who did not attack him and pointed the finger at him as the culprit.
These days that Lulzim Basha is looking to replace all the time he was gone, no one is talking. The only one who put a pin on the former president was Evin Saljanji, who has already opened with Foltore, even though he officially remained the vice president of the DP parliamentary group.
In fact, there are reasons to talk a lot, especially about the content of what Lulzim Basha says in the meetings he is holding from city to city. Of these arguments that Basha repeats, three or four are the main arguments, but not that many. First is the re-emphasis that he makes in every meeting regarding the decision on Sali Berisha's expulsion. Then come the proposals for constitutional changes, where in fact Basha is recycling his old proposals for open lists, limited mandates of the prime minister, plus some other additions.
What the former head of the DP does not talk about is how the opposition should act from a practical point of view after May 14, in relation to its leadership. The internal elections, the forums, the pulpit and the official PD, how will the deputies come out, what will it take to achieve the capture of the gray electorate. Like Albin Kurti or the politicians of Kosovo, who are afraid to deal with the basic argument of the situation, which is the status of the Serbs in the north, so they find enemies to polarize and aggravate the situation, and in the Albanian opposition, they are trying to attack who is more democratic than grassroots democrats.
But this is one side, the other side, and what seems to be the most important, is that after May 14, PD and Foltorja, which has already merged with Ilir Meta, have no chance of becoming a party, at least until now. Where each party, which are also legally separate electoral subjects, accuse each other, or denigrate each other for the result achieved.
Meanwhile, the part that should or was expected to be activated in the post-electoral debate, is that group of DP deputies who did not go to Sali Berisha. Who strongly influenced not to come up with 61 candidates from DP and to support the names of the "Union for Victory". But on the other hand, they were not even strongly engaged in the campaign where DP had its own candidates. As for example in Tirana for Roland Bejko, who declared these days that the only ones who had supported him in the campaign were Kreshnik Çollaku and Orjola Pampuri.
An important development, which shows that the deputies have violated a political decision of the party, which is also the red line of behavior in a political force. Yes, Luli didn't come to the campaign either, as he promised. No one saw it. But today that Basha came out, why is everyone silent? Chances are that May 14 clarified things more. So what PD and Berisha e Meta are two separate political realities. The deputies will have to choose. To get to the pulpit, it's not about who needs or lacks it. Since Berisha needs soldiers and not colonels, meanwhile in PD, the power is now held by the heads of branches, the only structure left standing after the 2-year war.
Structure, which does not like the deputies at all, but on the other hand it seems that the mayors support the return of Lulzim Basha in the majority. With whom they made the pact before March 6 and have left a word since then. This seems to be the reason that created this impact, but the space to move gives a long time until the election. However, now the tower is not small. And Lulzim Basha feeds this mystery even more, who has not yet met the deputies to tell them what he will do. Apparently he expects them to come first, after the havoc they made in the days after the 2022 by-elections…
