A few days ago, many opposition-affiliated media outlets gave voice to the protests taking place in Bulgaria. Although politically supported, they were based on trade union organizations and essentially contested next year's budget.
After all, the budget law is the basis of political confrontation in the country. The US had a fierce battle over the budget that also caused the closure of federal offices, while in France two governments were changed. In Italy, there was also a fatal clash that caused the loss of the majority in two important southern regions such as Campania and Puglia.
The budget is really the main political battle, as it is public money that is taken from taxpayers and spent.
Edi Rama's government has played this card hard by focusing on pensions and salary increases, while the opposition did not put up a fight at all. The only one who had a professional discourse in this area was Jorida Tabaku, who clashed with the Minister of Finance over Fiscal Peace.
Another point where all hell could have broken loose. However, the government brought the 9 billion euro budget to the Assembly, making it possible to maintain political unity within its ranks, apart from a few problems.
Meanwhile, the opposition has not brought any vision of its own to the budget month on how it will handle taxation, that is, the collection of revenues and the spending of public money.
And this has not only been done by Sali Berisha's DP, which for 13 years has not hesitated to show its idea for the budget, but also by the new parties that were voted in precisely to be a different panorama of the opposition reality.
The only one who has opposed the budget, naturally divided into the votes for which he has always fought, is Erion Braçe, who is a socialist MP, member of the majority, and this stance causes him political costs. But Braçe apparently does not prefer to change his position from what he thinks.
What is the opposition's opinion on the budget, to increase it, to make pensions bigger, to increase salaries, to balance taxes and systematize the method of fiscal punishment. After some time, perhaps it will speak, mainly in the contestation, taking the ideas that come from the networks. But until now it has not even taken the time to worry. Therefore, this opposition is not voted for, very simple.
