Some unsolicited advice for young people in politics

The case of Agron Shehaj in the Parliament brought back this debate.

There is a lot of criticism of the newly formed parties that will compete in the May elections. Most accuse them of old mentality and conspiratorial ties to the two main parties.

Their prejudice is unfair, but it is true that in their behavior there is something not original, or better to say imitation of some vices of the strong leaders of Albania.

The case of Agron Shehaj in the Parliament brought back this debate.

First of all, I think that the new parties are not creations of the old Albanian parties. None of them were created by DP or SP to have them as satellites. This has never even been a practice of any major parties in Albania. They have not created small parties, but have caught them along the way in an effort to survive politically. The previous electoral system, with the composite coalition, where any small party could enter a coalition with a large party with its own list, allowed them this luxury.

Now this system has fallen and the big parties are of course annoyed by the small parties, since they cannot use them for votes, but they can simply take away some of their votes.

In the case of the opposition, since all the new parties are opposition parties, PD is particularly annoyed by the idea that the existence of small parties keeps alive the spirit of disunity in the opposition, or rather, it kills Berisha's propaganda for a "united opposition" or for "single opposition".

On the other hand, these ridiculous ideas, that the new parties had connections with Soros or Berisha, are equally ridiculous and show that their critics are much more closed-minded than those they criticize.

I know, for example, a case that for 30 years has been living only with projects financed by the Soros foundation, Fatos Lubonjen, and half of the Syri TV team, but no one prevents them from being with Berisha and no one prejudices them. This work of financing Soros is remembered only by those who are not with Berisha, but to those who are with Berisha it is called intellectual merit. Can you find me a book, magazine or article by Fatos Lubonja since 1991 that has not been financed by the Soros foundation, except for Irfan's appearances on the screen? None. But that doesn't mean that what he wrote has no value.

The same story is with those who attack the parties that came out of Berisha, reminding their creators that they were Berisha's tools. How can you accuse Agron Shehajn of being "Berisha's tool", when he physically collides with Flamur Noka, Berisha's ridiculous main tool, and create doubts that since he fights with the main tool, this was also a tool? Then you have to respect those who continue to be Berisha's tools.

So it is clear where these attacks come from.

But what do the new parties really suffer from?

I think they suffer from imitating the political style of the old parties. So far I haven't seen any of the young people who don't dream of being populist leaders by plucking brochles with a deep disrespect for numbers and truth.

The point is, I had a belief that Agron Shehaj, since he himself comes from business, would be more serious in attacking the government for corruption. And it is not that there are no serious battles. But the case of the Thumanë-Kashar road, which he tried to consider major corruption, is actually the only anti-corruption model he should use against the government. For those who are not clear, it is a road built in record time, for two years, by a private investor, Bashkim Ulaj of "Gener 2". The road, in addition to being built quickly and well, brought different prices to the market than those of the government in road construction and successfully introduced second-tier banks to the public construction market for the first time. So we have a road built with the money of a company, financed by banks and not by the government. It is not 1.3 billion euros as Agroni says, but not 100 million either, and it is his money.

This is the case when a politician who comes from business should make a difference with politicians who call every concession or tender a theft and every investment a fraud. And this is a refrain that causes fatigue in the public opinion when it hears them.

On the other hand, the new parties must break away from the "Berisha-Rama alliance" syndrome against them. They must break away not only because it is not true that there is any alliance against them, but even if there is, it is not their battle.

Telling the Albanians that Berisha and Rama are in alliance with each other so that Berisha stays in the opposition and Rama in power, only depresses the electorate. They don't lose any work, they only get stronger, while they weaken themselves.

Entering this conspiracy theory, they are very similar to their conspiratorial critics who link some to Soros, some to Berisha, without a single point of connection.

The past of young political leaders is not always a reason to attack them eternally. Someone was with Berisha, someone with Rama, someone worked with oligarchs, someone was their tool, or close to them, but the fact that they came out on their own shows that they are not their hostages.

The problem is not to imitate them, when they speak or when they do populist politics, as if everything is bad here and they are coming to restore hope. The word comes, I can't listen to that Lapaj for a minute, because it seems to me from moment to moment that he is going to punch the person he is talking to, screaming, are you saying that he was raising his voice, it fills my mind and he was attacking everyone else , seems to me the best.

Even this is the common disease of all young people: attacks and mistrust towards each other. To hear them attack each other or when they attack journalists and old politicians, they look like Sali Berisha from the 90s.

Take it easy, guys. For talkers, mudslingers and people who have no respect for any truth, we have Sali Berisha. You can't compete with it.

For oratory, to be in the center of press attention and to have an international PR from the best in the history of Albania, we have Edi Rama. You can't compete with it.

Look, make room for yourself with your original profile, with a little more realism, with a little more calmness, because we don't need crazy leaders. We had them in large numbers and when they spoke in a low voice.

Be yourself and don't imitate Berisha, Rama, Nana or Meta, because you can't succeed. They have made their own history, without imitating anyone. If you want a place in this history of politics, make your own history. We don't need the copies, as long as we have the originals alive.
