The new judiciary must provide evidence that it is not blackmailed by corruption

The Strasbourg Court ruled the detention unlawful and now Gëllçi must continue the battle for his innocence...

The Supreme Court has made two decisions for the first time that could create a new climate in the Republic of Prosecutors that has been created in Albania. The court has overturned the Appeals Court decision for Ilir Meta and has returned the case of Thoma Gëllçi for trial.

We recall that the case of Thoma Gëllçi is the first sensational case of SPAK for corruption, in a story that, apparently, they have even bothered to read the file. They arrested him for making a tender and in the end he ended up being convicted of extending the deadlines of a tender, while they kept him in detention for over a year or so.

The Strasbourg Court ruled the detention unlawful and now Gëllçi must continue his battle for innocence.

In Ilir Meta's case, the case is different, as it concerns the measure of pre-trial detention. Until today, all levels of courts have been notaries of pre-trial detention measures. Ilir Meta's four appeals have been confirmed, leaving him in prison; Erion Veliaj as well, while Ilir Beqaj is being held in prison for the history of bribery in one of his units, which has not yet begun the trial on the merits.

The two decisions of the Supreme Court are the first decisions that are testing the justice system established by prosecutors in Albania, who until now are their own god and their own stick: they formulate accusations themselves, they call the political analyses they make facts, they file accusations themselves, they confirm them themselves by blackmailing judges and the entire system up to the Constitutional Court.

This is the first case where the Supreme Court behaves as a court and not as a notary.

This is very important to test the restoration of the authority of the GJKKO and other courts in the country, which have so far proven a high degree of dependence on SPAK due to their corruption, being hostage to wiretapping.

So, a corrupt system, identified by SPAK as such, has become a deadly mechanism for justice in Albania. It has even now become a political hunting weapon for SPAK itself. The sensational cases that SPAK has weak facts about are kept alive thanks to the corruption of prosecutors and judges in the system, whom SPAK leaders have caught in wiretaps and are blackmailing. This line of blackmailed people starts from the SPAK and GJKKO offices and goes all the way to the highest courts in the country.

This is perhaps the biggest crime of the new justice system, as we have a special prosecutor's office aware that their colleagues are corrupt and, instead of bringing them to justice, they use them as blackmailed people to carry out their "plan" of arrests and to appear as if they are fighting corruption.

When this becomes public and when Albanians see who has condemned other Albanians as corrupt, it will be too late for the funeral of the new justice system, as the corpse will have long since rotted. The only sign of its life would be to prove that it is unblackmailable. So far the only signal is these two decisions yesterday.
