The Rama-Basha rapper duel: why are they both following it with so much

A political movement started by Edi Rama and quickly and intuitively captured by Lulzim Basha!

Dissing has long been a very popular genre in social media communication. Dissing is practically a digital video clash between rappers, who, with improvised rhymes and a musical background mixed by a PC, create an atmosphere that increases viewership among young people in general.

This type of genre is widely used all over the world, but the idea comes from the old clashes between rap legends, who considered war, a debate at a distance. And this created the pro and con sides, that is, the blind fans.

This type of war has also been present in our country, when the parties clashed with Noizy or Stres, but later it spread to others. This method once increased the sale of records and cassettes of a musical genre, which entertained not by the music and its magic, but by the noise it brought. In the current era of social networks, this type of dissing uses Instagram or TikTok as an arena. And where not only rappers clash, but also characters who have nothing to do with rap, they simply make double connections and utter the most "dirty" nonsense and words, just to have high visibility.

Suddenly, this kind of dissing has entered the electoral campaign between Edi Rama and Lulzim Basha since the beginning of the week. A duel that has only jokes, laughter, a little music in the background, and as many theatrical skits as possible. No matter how unconventional it may seem, no matter how superficial, the fact is that these short videos of Edi-Lul dissing are working.

Only episode 5 "Zgjimi i Lulit" posted by Edi Rama on his Facebook page, has 145 thousand viewers. An impressive audience that the televisions we watch every day do not really reach, except for some prime time program or that has an early viewership. Meanwhile, the latest video of Lulzim Basha, who does not bother to put titles and graphics to his "works", has received 26 thousand viewers on Facebook.

An important audience as well, when previous posts, whether video or written, did not even reach half of this audience.

Which means that this absurd communication between politicians has achieved a goal at a time when everything has turned into a reality show.

However, apart from the aspect of visibility and penetration into that part of the audience that is not reached by normal means of communication, this duel is nothing more than a political signal and movement.

A political movement started by Edi Rama and quickly and intuitively picked up by Lulzim Basha, who not only loses nothing from this dissing, but can only be present on the political scene, where under normal conditions he would not have been able to be, since there are only two big names on television.

Rama, who started this "game" himself, has studied it to be in line with his electoral message. A message that is almost a call that is repeated several times a day. "It's not about our socialist votes, which we will have, but we want votes from the Democrats to achieve not a victory but a triumph that will give us great support for Albania in the EU."

Meanwhile, Lulzim Basha's message is the basis of what he wants to convey to his followers, that the majority is involved in the investigations, and many characters are today prey to SPAK. In reality, Basha is not saying anything that he has not said before, since he does it every day. But the manner and visibility is where and where with the analogous manners. "Where are your friends, Rame," Basha says, while Rama, without explaining, is using the joke: "one falls, thousands rise." In a way, both sides give the message where it needs to be.

Meanwhile, Sali Berisha, who is actually Edi Rama's main rival, has been sidelined from a duel with Rama that he has been seeking for a long time. Fixed like a fish in a dry place, or as Rama calls him, an owl that sits in his swamp. The Prime Minister has never given him the chance for a debate or confrontation, even though he has made frequent agreements with him recently, but not directly.

Therefore, Berisha is also trying to consider this game of rappers, a sophisticated thing, in a certain way coordinated. Even if it is, it still seems like a political instrument that has left Berisha out, who either communicates with his loyal "community", or will hardly postpone shows like the one at the beginning of this week, when Grida fired Yuri Kim, and even declared him a defendant. The fable that was dissolved after only 12 hours...
