His daily stones on the SPAK building and at Duman's address are a prolonged and uninterrupted intifada until the day he will have to face justice formally and not in a television studio.
There is an unrestrained rage of Ilir Meta against the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani. Beyond his personal insults or bullying, there is a determination to attack him daily, even the SPAK institution. We all know where the reason is, but of course we cannot give Ilir Meta the reason to remain silent.
He has decided to face justice not for what he has done these 32 years in politics and power, but as a reaction to his insults.
And Altin Dumani has made some mistakes.
His main mistake was when he reacted to his accusations about McGonigal. Altin Dumani is in charge of SPAK in 2023 while McGonigal came for the last time in 2018 and they are not related to each other. Even if they had met every night, he has no reason to make public clarifications about the accusations coming from people under investigation, since his duty is to investigate and not clarify them. Otherwise, he will then have to give an account to every investigated person who, of course, does not like the prosecutor who is leading them to the doors of the courts.
He was also complicated when, in his report before the KLP, he placed in the wrong context his assessment of the special anti-corruption court as notarizing the decisions of SPAK. He could have gone about it more sportingly by saying in another speech a little more clearly what he said wrong. There was no reason to react to Meta and Berisha making a spot for him. Their effort simply illustrates that they are in a lynching campaign against SPAK.
But beyond the excessive attention of prosecutor Dumani to an object of investigation like Ilir Meta, the latter has set himself the goal of filling the mind of every Albanian that what may happen to him in front of justice is the fruit of his latest campaign of insults and insults and not of what he has done.
His daily stones on the SPAK building and at Duman's address are a prolonged and uninterrupted intifada until the day he will have to face justice formally and not in a television studio.
The reactions of the ambassadors of the West or some pro-SPAK political groups in the meantime only strengthen his cause that SPAK belongs to a party that protects it and against a party that insults it.
Therefore, it is good that Ilir Meta is left to his own devices. His real trouble is neither Duman's oratory nor any personal grudge against Meta. His real concern is why he is being investigated. We cannot solve this problem. We can't even solve it for ourselves if we have the same problem.
It is best to avoid arguments with him about attitudes towards SPAK. Only thus does his struggle take on the true meaning of the drama he experiences.
The image he is creating in public opinion, as a fool who has filled his pocket with stones and while watching a camera shoot at Duman and SPAK, is the bitter truth of the lack of courage and integrity that a politician should have when faced with justice.
Politicians are not remembered how they come to power, but how they leave politics. Don't spoil Ilir Meta's last political image by presenting him here as a fighter.
Leave him as he really is, like a fool who wanders the streets with stones in his pocket and shoots them wherever he can.
This trial will be remembered. The other one with justice is not very important, because it is a personal account before justice. Now he is giving an account to the Albanians, to show to whom they entrusted the fate of the government for three decades.
