This is an innovation for Sali Berisha's Democratic Party...
The most important news coming from the opposition today is not the fact that some expelled from the DP protested in the DP yard, but the fact that they went to the DP headquarters and left without anyone beating them. This is a novelty for Sali Berisha's Democratic Party. In the history of that party, Berisha's opponents were beaten even without protesting, let alone going to protest at the headquarters.
Under other circumstances, today, instead of confronting Flamur, they would encounter some Tropojë residents pretending to wash cars in the yard and would emerge with a bruised face or, as Berisha says, blacker than a shoe.
The fact that it didn't happen is a significant event and there are only two explanations.
The normal explanation is that the Democratic Party has moderated, matured and understood that opponents are not beaten. But when you think that four years ago these people were beaten in the block with batons, sledgehammers and tear gas with each other, this track falls. The flag has not changed for 30 years, there is no way it will change in four years. Berisha has also been a party member (PPSH plus PD) for 60 years, unchanging. The car wash guards may have changed, but not the duties they receive.
So I do not believe that they have escaped without being beaten today because the PD has changed.
The second track is more plausible. There is no one left in the DP to even beat you. And this is a huge waste of the only fighting potential that Berisha has. All his worst dreams about opponents are those flashes that come to his mind of beating opponents, ruining their faces, breaking their legs or arms, or something similar.
It's not that he doesn't think about doing this to these guys who are bothering him these days. But apparently there's no one left to do it to. And this is an important piece of information about what has happened to him and his party.
In other words, his main weapon, which was used to terrorize anyone who raised their voice in the DP's courtyard, has destroyed itself, and he no longer has people left to beat. This is like an aviation unit losing its pilots, or an artillery unit losing its gunners.
He now only has the headquarters and the Flag. The flag neither beats you nor is it beaten because they do not consider it. So the DP headquarters now resembles a cemetery of an army that no longer exists and that only its commander remains alive, who declares enemies that there is no one to kill.
It is very painful to see the DP without votes, without intellectuals, without respected public figures, without people with a critical mind, but it is even more painful to see the DP without people who beat their enemies. This has never been lacking, even in its darkest days. But the evil has no end. And it has become even worse.
