For the first time, after the defeat of Himara, the voices that publicly support the districts of Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta in the opposition, admit that one of the causes of the defeat was the difficult situation on the ground.
Namely, the lack of cohesion in the ranks of the Albanian opposition in the territory. A conclusion, already said and repeated all these years, exactly when Berisha decided to undermine the opposition after declaring him non grata.
Since that time, the opposition, in all its components, only announces daily and weekly "causes", simply to throw dust in the media and political environment. As it happened with the beach umbrella fight, which Berisha brought out empty and Rama full, so it was with the Olympic medals. This empty shooting is done only to hide the essence of the problem, the most cardinal one, which cannot be hidden even by the tanned and reddened faces of the panelists on television, where they browse the most selected books of street dictionaries.
The problem is political and nothing can solve or replace it except politics. For an opposition to win the elections or increase its consensus, it must first mobilize all the people who have supported it for years, and then attract the independents of the other side or the gray electorate.
Donald Trump won the election in 2016 by wooing the working class who had voted all his life for the Democrats, and Joe Biden in 2020 won by wooing anti-Trump centrist Republicans.
Sali Berisha came back to power in 2005 after mobilizing all the opposition supporters who had abandoned him in 1997, but he also got a part of the gray electorate. However, Berisha did not get the majority of votes, but managed to have a relative majority thanks to the split of the left. However, this is also a very important factor for a victory. But, it must be admitted that there was a "generosity" of the Albanian voters to give the doctor the last chance to lead, since the PD tried with an opening to unite those who were forcibly removed from the first years of government. However, this whole operation failed and Sali Berisha, after 2 years in power, that is, in 2007, lost all the big municipalities of Albania except Shkodra. Starting from Durrës, which he convincingly won in 2005.
It was the departure of Sali Berisha with the fake resignation of 2013 that kept the opposition supporters in the Democratic Party pregnant. Although many knew that even though he was gone, he would dictate the developments in DP, many people, it is about intellectuals who think with their own minds, believed in a process where the doctor's influence, even though it may not be extinguished never, it is part of a cohesive dialectic, that in the end, will collide or make an alliance with the different currents that will be formed within the opposition. Therefore, this support has continued strongly for the DP, even with high costs and endless adventures from the base; like the "radical" one or the more "quiet" one.
And this happened for a simple reason; since everyone has hoped that it will start a career process and fusion of a new political class within the opposition. A large number of young people are remembered who taught the blue headquarters and gave their energy to the opposition force with the new tools. Social networks, where a whole army of young graduates here and abroad roamed for years. Lulzim Basha, with an unnecessary cunning, created a bunch of departments just to attract as much as possible this new energy to strengthen the opposition voice.
That happened, but then the lack of gear selection ruined everything. Because we were not dealing with a process, but with a big lie. After all, no one wanted the engraftment of the youth, but the catapult of the small clans that dominated outside the doors of the blue headquarters. Clans that, as is known, were again controlled by the doctor, but not personally, through the children. Who approached their parveny. For some time, this created a "normality", since the son and daughter of doctors were seen as a normal anteroom to make a career, as a kind of salons where "they also happen in the world". That the thought was: the doctor is gone, the children have the right to have their influence and contribution. "Doesn't it also happen in the world that important families are influential?" The Bush, Micotaqis, Karamanlis, and many others families mentioned him as a parrot, truly believing that Berisha's children are really lobbies, and not anterooms of the most powerful man.
Which returned to the worst days. When the US severely punished him along with his family. Also defining its conditions for the PD.
Exactly that return has really marked the loss of any political chance of the opposition. Everything looked clear and was said quite clearly. They didn't want to believe it, at first the doctor's and his children's parveny (it should be said better, they didn't accept it politically), but then there was no chance for the opposition to have a coherence like in the period 2013-2021 when Sali Berisha was only de away jure.
The temporary and as it turned out short-lived approach of some opposition figures to Berisha's pulpit to use as a catapult was also predictable to fail.
Then Shkodra, Tropoja, Himara, are clear political signals, they just didn't want to read them.
A normal opposition, to win normally that has to wait and wish, or fight for the destruction of the opponents. But this is only 35% of the matter, since most of the weight for victory is carried by the change of leadership, as well as the formulation of an important programmatic idea.
The victory of British Labor did not come from the bluster of conservatives tired of power and busy with internal strife. Since when Labor was led by a radical like James Jeremy Corbyn, he did not even get the votes of the centrists of the British left. The arrival of a new leader representing an alliance between the two wings of Labour, Keir Stramer, brought about the change.
