A public response to Gaz Bardhin and others!

It is clear that the situation in the DP, for two years now, is catastrophic because of a single person, but this does not mean that in the part of the official DP that is left, things should drag on and continue with the principle " wait for us to wait because he doesn't know".

Today I received a message from the General Secretary of the DP, Mr. Gazment Bardhi, inviting me to participate in the meeting of the National Council, which will be held today on the Zoom platform. First, in Article 44 (National Council) of the Statute of the Democratic Party it is expressly stated that "the meeting of the National Council is called by the Chairman of the Party or the Presidency of the Party" and secondly (ibid.), "the date of the meeting and the agenda must to be notified to the members no later than 5 days before the meeting". In this sense, this meeting is not in accordance with the DP Statute, either in terms of the competence of the authority that convenes it, or because of the lack of seriousness in respecting the notification deadlines.

In addition to the above, I personally participated in the meeting of the National Council of the Democratic Party, which, in the absence of the Chairman, was called by the Party Presidency, in accordance with the Statute, on June 20, 2023, in which, apart from among others, the way has been opened for the elections for party leader in the DP. I participated in it, firstly, because of my belief that only an immediate restructuring of this force will somehow remove the deep apathy in its structures, and, secondly, the party needs a leading head, who advance and represent him in relation to third parties.

It is clear that the situation in the DP, for two years now, is catastrophic because of a single person, but this does not mean that in the part of the official DP that is left, things should drag on and continue with the principle " wait for us to wait because he doesn't know".

At the end, I would also add something regarding Lulzim Basha's candidacy in these elections: as I wrote, but also as I told Basha myself at the public meeting 2 months ago in Berat, there were the DP deputies and the remaining leadership structures, that with their actions or inactions, those that paved the way for his return to the head of the DP, because if they had justified themselves, performing their functional and statutory duties, his return would not it would have been as easy as it is today. Just as I told him in the same meeting, that in another situation of the candidacy of E. Alibeaj, G. Bardhi or J. Tabak for the chairman of the official DP, in all cases, I personally would have preferred any of theirs.

However, apart from Mr. Alibeaj, who should be congratulated for what he did during the period he was in command at the head of the DP, the others not only did not undertake to run, but in dubious ways and forms, joined the "revolution" and today, with or without their awareness, they are totally put at the service of continuing the destruction of the DP. Started, followed and led by Mr. Berisha.

So, in these elections, Lulzim Basha, among others, represents the vocation of keeping the DP on the tracks of political normality and not turning it into an anti-Western bunker on the edge of Lana, which was also shown in the local elections on May 14 through a stable and consolidated electorate, in the total absence of an electoral campaign and in an unprecedented and daily war with all the heavy media artillery, fed by the money of corruption and 30-year theft of Albanians.

Of course, this alone is not enough to make a large and competitive DP, but this is a good and auspicious starting point to build a Democratic Party not only with a Western vocation and in close partnership with our international friends, but, above all, a normal, civic DP, competitive in ideas and platform, not anachronistic, and a DP that is on the same wavelength as people's concerns. The road is not easy, but it is a good starting point for something normal, good and stable, outside the interests of those who hold Albania hostage. As for Lulzim Basha, I will write about him another time. After Saturday.
