The chairman of the SP, Edi Rama, at the same time the prime minister of the country, had the most difficult moment on Sunday when journalists asked him about Mr. Ahmetaj's interview and his reaction. With a general sentence unrelated to this, he continued to answer for the Assembly. Only at the end of the activity would he say an elliptical sentence about it. In other cases, Mr. Rama has given judgments on everything from the progress of the EU and its policy, but also the various developments in the country, accompanied by the usual jokes. The latter are often justified, as he is the head of the country's Executive, the most powerful power. But why can political representatives talk about anything and are never asked to be held accountable? This is a question that usually remains in people's minds when they look at the economic-social development models of the country, but more than that the initiatives, to complete the programs but that are usually channeled away from the objectives. Prime Minister Rama has known how to play with the image of a strong and organized party in every kind of way like the SP, but by covering up the real problems of the people, which have come as a result of the current economic development, where construction bears the weight. Referring to Eurostat, for the year 2022, Construction has been and continues to be an important engine of the country's progress. Eurostat data, which calculates the nominal construction costs as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), or what the economy produces in a year, in 2022, for Albania was 18.8% of GDP, from 11.3% that constitutes the average of the European Union. And, in fact, construction and real estate activities have been the largest contributors to economic growth in the past three years, often accounting for nearly 50% of it. Both these sectors were driven by the boom in building permits, which were issued in the capital after 2017 and peaked in 2022, falling for the first time in 2023 (Monitor, 2024).
Tourism, since the previous Berisha government, was more concerned with the statistics of the arrival of foreigners in the country, it was also seen from the figures of 2023, at the time of Rama-3, that it failed to bring added value to the economy, where apart from the influence of simply seasonal, there does not seem to be any real effort to link other sectors, such as the food processing industry (Monitor, 2024).
Regardless of how this year's budget went and the real lack of discussion about it, where while the majority is convinced by its figures that it is correct, the opposition did not show a real confrontation in the parliament, to show the public the points of her weakest points, but also the big problems of her voices, in addition to the anathemas in the media.
The intellectual voice of our politics is not only flawed, but in many moments it seems to be very demagogic. Rama showing with the figures of the budget the stage of Albania 2024 and the opposition, showing us on the other hand that this budget was so weak, but rarely using the intellectual elements of development, through its specialists. Their arguments about corruption seem like the inertia of that mentality that Berisha did with his return as prime minister, leaving corruption to the government of his party!! Just like Rama, at every moment he connects the projections of failures only with his ministers, who knows how to remind them how he catapulted them, but never without justifying their selection.
What worries the public is the fact that: why do politicians, when they try to articulate in intellectual forms, not consider the impact of their words but also their actions?! Why does the attempt to be intellectually interested not really justify the state of Albania and above all its future projections? Why is the voice of the respective ministers of Finance, Economy, Defense and Social Affairs or others not heard more, it has no weight and is so cynical even with the MPs of the SP? Why don't you get to the root of the problems and why can't solutions be given for the emptying of the country.
The well-known esthete Umberto Eco in his article about intellectuals would say that: "intellectuals cannot have an opinion about everything and that, if their house caught fire, they would do well to call the appropriate specialist, the fire brigade and , don't try to put out the fire yourself". The writer Antonio Tabucchi got involved in the debate by reminding them that of course he will call the fire department, but he would reserve the right to ask who started the fire, a job that only firefighters can do.
This debate is unlikely to take place here, as none of the politicians and forums they have set up can justify why today's model has failed to increase well-being, and the latest IMF poverty figure showed that this it has increased to 25% in 2022, from 22% the previous year.
Our majority, which is in a hurry to get the fourth mandate, can no longer call the fire brigade (metaphorically, to find the real problems of the country) but can't even search for its roots, which every government contributes by introducing them deeper and deeper. The opposition, on the other hand (sorry for the separate parties), continues to sink into a quagmire, which is opening itself for every day covered with false intellectual discourses, but without giving a projection of the Albania of the future, or what they think it can be. they differ. Many of them, who today are showing us the change and their ability (of course, until they come to power), in fact, are increasing the insecurity and the thought of no change, a fact that makes Albanians leave and leave forever. "The worst service today is offered by those who say 'everything instantly'. A country does not change from one day to another, democracy is not built with bridges and maximalism", wrote the writer Nadine Gordimer once, at a time when her country South Africa was making the big changes that marked its evolution. But Albania has its forums full, while those who articulate intellectually are confused by Eco's metaphor for the fireman./(Homo Albanicus)
