Both Janisher and Gjuzi are marginal figures in the opposition, and the doctor himself has never been as close to them as he is today. But why did he do it today?
Kujtim Gjuzi has been an urban character in Tirana since early on, but he became known in politics when he replaced opposition MPs who surrendered their mandates.
Precisely in 2019, when, together with Selami Yenisher, they turned into a parody of the "parliamentary opposition".
All these characters, who did not come from the planet Mars but were part of the opposition's replacement lists for MPs, entered the Assembly, were attacked, insulted, and reviled precisely by the media and circles close to the Democratic Party.
An attack that continued for a long time, until 2021, when Sali Berisha was expelled from the DP parliamentary group by Lulzim Basha. It was then that Gjuzi, the Janisheri, and other scoundrels joined the doctor. There were no more insults, irony, jokes, or jokes about the MPs who joined Edi Rama and voted with him to abolish electoral coalitions.
Sali Berisha announced the "Greater Albania" coalition, which includes precisely these figures from the 2019 "parliamentary opposition", with Kujtim Gjuzi and Selami Jenisheri remaining as the most emblematic characters.
This is not simply due to their stances, but to the antics that have provoked their media appearances. Antics that may also have been provoked by these characters for more hype, like Nard Ndoka, for example, willingly went viral with his slightly surreal jokes.
However, both Janisheri and Gjuzi are marginal figures in the opposition, and the doctor himself has never brought them closer than he does today. But why did he do it today? Because he wants to make the so-called "Great Albania" more of a virtual viral development than a territorial political organism.
In "Greater Albania" very few subjects have a grassroots organization. Apart from the DP, the PL, Agron Duka's Agrarian Party, all are five to nothing. Even Idrizi's PDIU is no longer a united organization. Idrizi fights only for himself and Mesila Doda, while on the other hand, in the majority, there is another part of the PDIU that seeks left-wing votes.
The PBDNJ of Dula relies only on the OMONIA of Himara, because there are no more votes in the minority, namely in Dropull and Finiq.
All other entities, even the groups of the National Front, no longer have their old power, as they have been absorbed into the DP and other opposition parties. In a recent poll, from the 36% that the Union for Victory, i.e. the DP, PL and PBDNJ, received on May 14, 2023, it turns out that it could get 40%, taking arithmetical points from local and perhaps even thematic groups.
Edi Rama opened the debate on the grotesque nature of "Great Albania" by bringing Kujtim Gjuzi as a symbol, who also went viral during the time of the "parliamentary opposition". This was a trap for the opposition, which itself had once crushed it. Sali Berisha had no other choice but to continue the absurd debate about Kujtim's mustache, which in the end, turned into the cream or the essence of the coalition.
