If a country like Germany places so much importance on political experience, Kosovo should not allow unknown figures to occupy high political positions, i.e. "political boxes" whose contents are unknown, whose voices have almost never been heard in public, whose political positions are unknown.
Regardless of which personality the political parties decide to elect for the post of president, one thing should be clear: Kosovo needs a figure who has political and diplomatic experience, is familiar with the processes that Kosovo has gone through, knows international relations and has experience communicating with the international community. And such a personality can be a woman or a man, what matters is the profile. In this time of great geopolitical storms, Kosovo has neither the luxury nor the time for experiments. No one should be elected to the post of president for emotional reasons or with purely patriotic arguments.
In Germany, the idea of electing Angela Merkel, the former chancellor with extensive political experience, to the post of president is being discussed these days. If a country like Germany attaches so much importance to political experience, Kosovo should not allow unknown figures to occupy high political positions, that is, "political boxes" whose insides are unknown, whose voices have almost never been heard in public, whose political positions are unknown.
Every candidate for prime minister is required to explain himself to the public, to present his program, to give interviews, to hold positions. Why do these criteria not apply to the post of president? 5 years are a long time and Kosovo will face great challenges. Political experience is essential to respond to these challenges. And all parties are responsible for finding a proper solution and avoiding political experiments, and first and foremost the party that won the elections.
Kosovo has diplomats and former diplomats, but also other personalities from political life who would be dignified for the post of president, if there is no agreement to continue another mandate with the current president. This is a matter for political parties and decision-makers should keep in mind that it is in their hands not to cause political damage with inappropriate candidacies.
